Conditions We Treat in Stratford
Neck discomfort after hours at the computer. A low back that hurts after too much sitting. Headaches that keep returning or stiffness that makes everyday movement more difficult. These are some of the reasons people visit Orr Chiropractic.
You don’t need to figure out what’s wrong before making an appointment. Our Stratford chiropractors will listen to what’s been happening, learn what you’d like to get back to doing and determine whether you’re in the right place.
Looking Beyond Where It Hurts
Pain doesn’t always tell the whole story. Sometimes changes in movement or function can be present before something hurts. Likewise, findings on an X-ray or MRI aren’t necessarily responsible for someone’s symptoms.
That’s why Dr. Sean Orr and Dr. Jessica Ross begin by listening, examining and testing. They’ll consider what appears to be the primary problem and what approach may be appropriate.
Depending on the findings, that might include an Activator Methods® adjustment, spinal decompression or laser therapy. Sometimes the better next step is physiotherapy or further medical investigation, and we’ll tell you when we believe that’s the case.
Common Reasons People Visit Us
Our primary focus is the spine, although we also see selected musculoskeletal concerns involving other areas of the body. Common reasons people come to us include:
- Neck and low back pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Sciatica and disc-related concerns
- Spinal stiffness and reduced mobility
- Posture-related concerns
- Rib or tailbone/coccyx discomfort
- Selected shoulder, knee and other extremity concerns
- Pregnancy-related discomfort
- Sports-related problems
We see people at many stages of life. Adults may come in with concerns related to work, sports or long periods of sitting. Pregnant patients experience their own mechanical changes, while older adults may be looking for help with musculoskeletal concerns that interfere with staying mobile and active.
Knowing When Chiropractic Isn’t the Answer
Part of good care is recognizing when another type of healthcare is more appropriate.
If your examination raises concerns about a fracture, infection, significant neurological condition, major instability or another problem requiring medical investigation, we’ll refer you appropriately. Rehabilitation-heavy tendon, ligament, meniscal and extremity problems may also be better suited to physiotherapy.
Our goal isn’t to recommend chiropractic care to everyone. It’s to determine whether what we offer makes sense for you.
Experience With an Instrument-Based Approach
Dr. Orr has more than 20 years of experience using Activator Methods, a low-force, instrument-based chiropractic technique, and has spent more than 13 years in combined Activator Methods instructor roles. Dr. Ross also uses the technique and is currently working toward her advanced Activator rating.
This approach allows adjustments to be delivered to specific areas without manual twisting or cracking.
Let’s Find Out What’s Going On
You don’t need a diagnosis before walking through our door. Tell us what’s bothering you, what you’re concerned about and what you’d like to get back to doing. We’ll take it from there and determine whether chiropractic care may be appropriate.
